Description

We were pulling into the driveway after a morning and afternoon of birding and spotted our female Pileated Woodpecker in the woods behind the house. I knew that I had to be very careful not to spook her so I slowly exited the car and stood right up against the house. I was quite a distance away, but decided to still try to see if I could catch some views. She hugged the tree and scanned all around for a while. Once she decided it was safe, I caught this shot of her approaching the feeders.
