Mr. and Mrs. House Finch show their appreciation for the food and water we provid for them during the winter months, by briefly posing long enough to give me time to grab a point and shoot camera and snap a photo. While they are a very common year round bird species spread across the lower 48 states, lower Canada and northern Mexico, we find their antics quite amusing, entertaining and relaxing. They like our landscaped countryside acreage of several varieties of trees, shrubs, grasses and natural hedgerow for the protective cover it provides them from predators and the inclement weather. I’m pretty sure they also appreciate that we forego the use of any chemicals upon the lawn and garden, thus they are assured to find plenty of the things they like to feast upon.
