Strange that you won’t let me tag these as Hooded Crow. Apparently that species isn’t on your radar for the GBBC, but it’s the species of Crow we have here. Not our only corvids – we do have 7 others – but our only Crows this far north. Even more so than with Mallards, Crows are underappreciated. Seen up close and in detail, they are quite beautiful. They’re also remarkably intelligent, sociable, and even playful (I’ve seen them body-sledding on snowy rooftops just for fun!).
