Description

This duck was one of the Iosco county rarities reported during the GBBC – I found the pair of pintails in the last place I expected, underneath a birdfeeder. The feeder was next to the Tawas River. The homeowner said the pair had been regular visitors to his feeders for about a week. I watched the male chasing mallards away from the ‘magic spot’ under the feeder for about half an hour – this will probably be the closest I ever get to a pintail as they are rare visitors to our area, I usually only see them from several hundred yards. I took the photos offhand – in a snowbank! – from the homeowners front yard.
