The moment we had the observational tower to ourselves, a flock of six Rock Pigeons descended upon us. They were completely at ease with humans — cooing while waiting for birdie nom noms. Handfeeding them prompted two of them to fly onto the palm of my hand at the same time (note: rock pigeons weigh considerably MORE than chickadees!) Another handfeeding session at the bench brought four diners to the palm of my hand. Their necks brushed my fingertips as they ate — and pigeon feathers are so soft!!
