This Neotropic Cormorant popped up about 30 feet away as I was counting a group of American Coots swimming along the bank on the opposite side of the South Concho River in Spring Creek Marina on the first day of the Great Backyard Bird Count. The sun was dipping low in the western sky and highlights the yellowish-orange on the throat.
