Take a photo, or answer a few questions, and Merlin then provides a list of possibilities to choose from. Merlin offers identification help for 4,000+ species, covering more than 100 countries in the Americas, Europe, Australia, Asia and Northern Africa. Audubon Bird Guide 
Another way to ID and to learn about the birds you see during the Great Backyard Bird Count is with the award-winning Audubon Bird Guide app. The app is free and available for smartphones and tablets through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon App Store. The guide is rich in multi-media, featuring 821 North American species with sounds, images, and range maps. You can also see which birds are being reported where on eBird. Keep and share all your GBBC sightings in the app with the interactive and growing community of birders who share their observations and photos through NatureShare.

The free eBird Mobile app will allow you to upload your GBBC data from anywhere and is available for iOS and for Android. Your sightings will be included in the Great Backyard Bird Count if you use the app during the GBBC count period. You can log in with your existing GBBC/eBird account or create a free account if you don’t already have one. New: If you are on a bird walk, the app can trace your route and measure the distance automatically.
